Does anyone make a performance computer chip for my '92 egt or my '92 protege lx? I tried a performance module from ebay for $48, but it was a sham! It didn't do anything at all! I enduro race my car, and i can't modify anything externally, so I want to get a chip. It has to be inexpencive, and must not be a sham (fake)! If there is one, how much power will it add, and how much will it cost? I would want it to add at least 5hp, the more the better! Gas mileage is NOT a concern, and I don't need low end torque, just high rpm hp!

its a 1.8L dohc. what year RX7 for the MAF? and what is a Exhintake cam mod? And yeah, i know, i was stupid to think that the mod chip would do anything, but i was desperate for more power. lol, at least they offered a money back guarentee! But it was still stupid. Oh, and what do you guys recomend for timing? Like i said, all I worry about is high rpms!

When I go into the cam swap, it says that it's only for NA and NB 1.8s. What does this mean? If it's a type of engine, my motor's a BP, so it won't work, will it?

You just need to get one out of a escort gt or a protege with the 1.8L BP... the exhaust cam is what drives the distributor so you'll need to get a shop to cut it off to the same length as your intake cam and get it balanced.

You mean that I can't do this myself? I thought I only had to do what it said in the directions. What do you mean by getting it balanced? Doesn't it say to cut the CAS tangs off, and I can install after re drilling the cam gear? My grandpa (an ex-mechanic) was going to help me install it, without going to any shops. I don't have any money, and I thought this was free.... We have a few escort GT parts cars already, and I was going to get the parts from them.

racerboy, you can do it all yourself. I used a sawsall and cut the CAS rangs off myself, just make sure you get it as straight as you can. I have run my EGT this way since May with no problems. There is no need for a shop. If you ahve any questions about it feel free to PM me or email me at [email protected].
