has anyone used a 5.0 mustang TB on the 93 1.9L escort? Also has anyone ever shortend the runner lenght or enlarged the Plentum size?? Will the 5.0 inj add any power or make it run bad on a mostly stock motor? I do plan on cone filter also. Thanks

You don't need a 5.0 mustang tb (overkill, probably), get one off a 3.8 taurus (or explorer, I think?). I doubt injectors will do much good unless you're running high compression or boost. I'm willing to bet it'd just make it run worse. But I'm not an expert, so I don't know.

Yep, the 5.0 tb is over kill unless you have head work done. Increasing the tb size only helps some to a certain point untill the added air can not pass past the 39mm valves.

Any time you increase the injector size you need a way to control the added fuel, other wise you'd run rich all the time, like while ideling, crusing, and so on, you'd probly loose power by running too rich.
You'd need either a custom chip, or a calibrated MAF, or lower fuel pressure, AFC, or some kind of piggy back.

I do plan on head porting. Has anyone tried to shorten the runners and get a larger plentum? The runners seam a little long to me, and the plentum a little small, does anyone know the cc of the plentum? My idea was to just make a new top half of the intake with new tb and larger plentum, then use connectors to connect the lower part to upper.

Yes some one has done the manifold modifactions your talking about.
RACETRACER , you can search for his post's on Escortracing.com to find more info.
But you still have to suck all that air past a 39mm valve. Have you conciderd the SPI swap?

ill go for the TB, HO header(and yes it will drop in w/ a little work), port and polish(kinda little hard but its worth at least 50 hp if am not worng), go for the 94' MAF housing w/ your stock MAF sensor, the header will wliminate the conveter once you drop it in...thing is there always is the e-test...i recommend you getting 2.25" piping and a 2.5" cat(i used a universal cat(catco))....and when putting the TB on make sure that you got the intake plenum port matched to the TB or else you will get a flat line in the power curve or you engine might feel more weak.....

what do you mean a little work? what all has to be done? And the 1.9HO has a header? I also heard that the 1.9HO intake is better?? Is it worth getting? I dont have any emissions to worry about. I May get the exhaust but i heard that the stock 2in exhaust with a good muff and no cat was good enof flow for it.

I'v tried every thing possible, all the bolt on's to a 1.9...I was disapointed with all of them but two, FI and swapping it out. With just porting and intake work alone your not gonna get 50hp, maybe with higher compresstion, cam and larger valves. If your serious about going fast, take this advice either spray, turbo, SPI swap or all the above.

Dont need something to go fast, just want to make it little funner to drive, have enof power to have ac on and enter on highway. What do you mean about FI? Mines fuel injected stock.

Forced Induction, the only way to go.
Well look at my Sig i deff agree!! But I dont really want the added stress to an econo car. (well maybe sooner or latter ) but dont want to mess around wtih it that much. I just want cheap power. (besides if i turbo this thing it would be hard to keep it below 10psi im to addicted to boost. Thinking about turboing the chevy truck even :D Also i thing Turbo is the only way to go (or turbo and N02) I wouldnt mess with NA and NO2 or anything to do with a crappy supercharger. If was serious about going fast i wouldnt mod a FWD. I just want a little more pep with FWD for better milage and something diff.
