Is this manual or power windows? I've had lotsa problems with ford power windows. Probably something is jamming inside the door when it's rolling up. Take the doorpanel off and see if there's not a tooth missing off a gear or something?
Good idea. Also; this is the only time I've heard of this happening, but my friend took his car up in the moutains and got gravel stuck in his window track that hampered the movement of the windows. Going down, the window was sliding against the rock, but going up it would get jammed against it. It took us a while to figure out what it was but once we did it was simple as picking it out with a screwdriver.
In reference to the guy with the passenger window sticking, my problem is with the driver side window. It has now become so bad that the rubber seal has become distorted and I am in the hunt for a new seal.(Anyone know where I can get one for a '91 Escort GT) Lubricating the seal is a short term solution and will distort the seal as it has done to mine. I was thinking about converting the manual crank to power. My question to those who know: Can I use the power window assembly from any Escort 2nd gen front door or does it have to come out of a GT?
