Woohoo...today I finally got my parking brake problem solved. As AleX and MrVermin already knew, my stupid parking brake lever used to ratchet all the way up and not engage the shoes, so it was pretty much useless.
The other day I was able to track down the auto parking brake adjustment mechanism from a Ford dealer in the states. Parts arrived today and now I´m happy as can be.

The stupid teeth on the auto adjuster were all ground down for some reason which was why they weren´t biting at all.

If you have drums in the back, then when you pull on the parking brake lever, the cable yanks on an auto-adjuster in the rear brake assemble which in turn pushes your shoes out to grip the drum hence locking your car in place. If you lever ratchets all the way up without gripping, you may have a worn out spot on the teeth on the parking brake adjuster.
