I have a 91 egt. The color of the car is teal. Of course the "geniouses" at ford decided that the car would look better if the rims were painted to match the car. Well guess what, it doesn´t. I wanted to know if there was a way to remove the paint from the rims, or if I could simply paint over the entire rim with a nice shiny crome color. Any thoughts?

I have thought about painting my wheels as well. I was thinking maybe white, not sure though. As far as you getting the paint off of your wheel, First off I would run to a parts store and get some stuff called aircraft paint remover. This stuff will peel the stink off of a skunk it is so strong. Spray it on the wheels, and if all goes well in a minute or two you should see the paint bubling up. You can then literaly whipe it right off with a rag. Then prep it juast like you would if you were painting anything else. If the paint remover doesn´t work, then I suggest just cleaning them up REALY REALY REALY good, and sanding them down a bit, to give the new paint something to stick to, cleaning it again, then spray away. Whrn you clean it for the final prep, use denatured alcohol if you can and make sure no sources af dust or flying dirt are anywhere near your painting area. I would also suggest removing the tires, but if you think you can do a good enough job taping and masking the rubber, go for it.
