I have a 97 mercury tracer with 2.0 four and automatic transmission. Service engine light is on. Autozone read it for me and it shows a P1744 code. When I disconnect the battery the code goes away but comes back in about 50 miles of driving. I just bought this car about 2 months ago for going to work. It had a broken passenger ball joint and drive axle inner boot had torn apart and the axle came apart. I replaced the ball joint and axle with new parts. While driving on the freeway at 65-70 I can feel a little bit of jerkiness. Not head snapping but noticeable. The rpms are running about 2500 at those speeds. The transmission fluid level is full. Any tips on what to do next would be appreciated.
