I don't know if anyone else has this problem but I didn't have an owner manual in my 1991 Pony. Not sure if it just got taken out or if it just didn't come with it. Does anyone know where I could find a manual for this car?

    Welcome to the forums!
I see Owners Manuals on ebay, several being sold now (May 9th 2019). I think I have one in my 91LX, though having others in my other Escorts (I own five 2nd gen Escorts) and having the Ford Service Manuals (for Escort/Tracer) I dont think I need them. If yours has an automatic transmission, the Owner's Manual does have good recommendations about using OverDrive when going on open roads, but using Drive when driving around in the suburbs. Doing that will extend the life of the transmission somewhat.
If you like your Escorts and plan to keep it, and have tools and some mechanical knowledge, I would recommend you get the two manuals Ford made for the cars. One is the Ford Escort/Tracer Service Manual. It is about 700 pages, and has plenty of detail; including the instructions to rebuild the transmission - both the automatic and the manual ones. A companion manual is the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, the EVTM. For some reason Ford did not indicate in either manual that it was one of a set of two. All of the wiring diagrams, schematics and other helpful info is in the EVTM. I got each of mine on ebay; where they are reasonably priced. The EVTM changed each year, as the car's wiring changed. The Service Manuals themselves were closer to being the same. They did get a little thicker each year however.

The other really good source for info on the Escorts is the membership in these forums.

Besides eBay, there is always car-part.com which I think sells them. I would just download the 1996 version since it's available online for free and mostly the same anyway. Search for the thread here about it.

I recently went online to eBay and found a Work shop and a wiring diagram book both in mint condition for my 2003 ZX2 for, get this $20!!!! Talk about a deal, just keep looking on eBay and I'm sure anyone looking can find a manual.

The Owner Guide (Manual) that came with my '91 1.9 l LX also has an Operating Guide, Ford Electronic Sound Systems - Operating Guide and an Emergency Handle Instruction with a tool for the Automatic Belts and Sun Roof.

The Sound System Guide has a section for setting the clock if you have that. The Operating Guide has a good diagram for the Instrument Panel, including identification of all the "check engine, etc lights".

So, there are actually 4 separate parts to this Owner Manual packet.
