In 2006, this car would have maybe sold for $1500. At least there's a very detailed description. They must want $30k for that 90s F150 behind it.
you aren't far off lol.

Now that I have seen the ad, I question whether the car described is the same one in the pictures (which look VERY NICE). the copy says '5 speed manual', but the picture shows an automatic I believe gen 2 Pony's came with a lighter duty alternator, henceforth no A/C or rear window defroster. A previous owner of ours put in an entertainment system that pushed 100's of watts and part of the system was a 'normal ' alternator. If you want to know if an Escort has 65.000 or 165,000 miles, just listen to the speedometer, one with 165,000 will be a lot noisier than one with 65,000!

@Mark Eric Roth - Yeesh, good points. Hadn't looked that far into the photos.

Really don't recall the mileage as it has been so long, but believe had taken my speedometer into a shop somewhere (far?) north of 200k. Once service, it was of course quiet again.

I'll 'fess up right now. Our Pony's speedo is quiet because when I replaced the interior the speedo was already loose so I pulled it out and gave it 2 very small drops of XL synthetic medium model locomotive oil. At the time the mileage was about 220,000, but I can't see a dealer going through the trouble of doing this.
