This sucks big time,


My dad got out of work today,5 O'clock,our van(95 Plymoth Voyager) was missing from the lot where he parks. The usual swearing takes place. He calls the cops, insurance..etc... no good news.

We had just cancelled our collision/theft etc.. insurance on the Van less than a MONTH ago!!!!! My little bro just got his licence and the cost of premiums was going to be pretty high, weve never had an accident or sometime stolenso my dad dropped the coverage.

We get a call around 10, from the cops.... the Van was in a crash, basically T-Boned, air bags deployed etc and is no impounded.... crap.

I''ll fill in more details tommrow when we go look at it.

P.S. Question for car insurance people.. Since we cancelled less than a month ago(have had insurance with these people for 15 years), are we just completely screwed? or is there any "grace" stuff.

sorry for my lack of details....

There was an accident reported, supposedly thats how the police found it, but its was "failure to remain on the scene", bascially the person(s) who stole it, crashed and fled.

We're hoping someone saw something, but this is Hamilton...no one sees anything.

well....if it was not the basterd criminals fault the other persons insurance company...assuming they have any would probably be responsible. But that is probably a slim chance. You are probably screwed. sorry

when you buy a new car and sell the old one or trade it in whatever you have a certain amount of time that your normal insurance will cover the new one (At least in AZ might not work for others) but that most likely has nothing to do with this.

I have no idea about your insurance but on my Escort I dropped my collision but I kept the comprehensive. I suspect that covers me in a theft.

All to often people drop the collision and the comprehensive, but the comprehensive insurance isn't expensive so I kept that.
