haha - I've done that a few times. The back seat isn't as bad as you would think!
well, as long as if your sub box is out. :?
Quaker City is not that far from Cleveland. It isn't that far from Elyria either.
Yep thats where the NEM was. I think I would be up for another meet there, sometime next spring. They were really cool with the track. One strip was ours all day and the other was open for anyone.
I wont have my E-GT running by then but i will have my Aveo and i am thinking that the Raceway will be a great place to have the meet i want to see how the Aveo does agianst an escort!!
I'm in Connecticut right now, but ive taken the trip out to Cleavland b4.. its not a bad ride. anyone wanna run their scort against my caddys? i may be about twice the weight, but im also 3 times the displacement, and twice the cylinders.... and STILL more torque than Jeffescorts turbo scort. and at only 3000RPM.. hehe .. i run 45mph in first gear, keep up lol
pick your poison
same motor. the white ones 500lbs lighter (fiberglass body panels)
I would drive there.Not a problem.Just to know an exact date,so I could save some cash and get a hotel room.
Just my $0.02.
When ERDT was up I was trying to get a Chicago meet going for those in that region (Chgo, Milwaukee, NW IN, SE MI), there were easily 30 guys in that area that were regulars on ERDT. And, with all those potential folks, all the crap in the Chgo area to do, and me offering to do the BBQ, the meet never got done.
I think it's the nature of the Escort owners' crowd, we all got better things to do. I'm sorry for the rant :evil: , but I understand when the die hards get pissed that the vendors don't support the Escort community. This all ties in together. We as a group are not unified enough. It takes numbers and of course money to get any of this stuff done.
I'm sure NEM was fun, but, if I'm not mistaken, that was the second meet of it's kind with only a marginal turn out for all the advertisement that went in to it.
What the Escort crowd needs to do is get some solid regional meets planned way in advance, where folks have to put down there $, do that it becomes an event they "have" to attend. Hell, even offer their money back as a refund just for showing up.
Now it is cool for a handful of guys getting together at the bar and hang out, or a handful show up at a larger meet/race day. But we end up not taking full advantage of each others experiences and show off OUR cars.
I'm in Athens Ohio now, and I'm more than willing to make it to a meet.
Is there anyone else here who is willing to put forth the effort to make it happen?
We first need to get a firm date. It has to be a date set in stone. If we try to accommodate everyone's interests it'll never happen. Hell, I'm williing to help out with stuff even if the date doesn't work for me! Next, it has to be in a place where all the cars could be lined up, a place to hang out, a place for food prep, a place to sleep, and a place where other stuff to do is not far away.
As I'm kinda new to Ohio I don't know where the "other stuff" is so much.
However, as I look at the map, Mansfield is about the most centrally located and easily accessible spot in the OH, PA, WV, IN, MI area to service to bulk of the folks who are potentially able to make if from this region.
It is about (keep in mind these are map hours at 50mph):
1 hr 15 min from Elyria, Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Columbus;
2 hr from Toledo, Dayton, Lima;
3 hrs from Cincy, Athens, Pittsburgh PA, Erie PA, Parkersburg WV, Fort Wayne IN, Detroit MI;
4 hrs from Morgantown WV, Buffalo NY, Indy.
There are a few campgrounds in the area (you local folks could find a good one), definitely hotels, Mid-Ohio Raceway is nearby (expensive to race there, maybe an event to see cheaper), etc.
If there is serious interest, I'm more than willing to do the legwork for this with assistance.
I think the best thing is to find a place that has an open area or paved lot for car display, camping, picnic pavillion, BBQ pits/grills, bathroom/showers, etc. If it is a campground that is smallish, we shouldn't have a problem getting hassled if we reserve a majority of the campsites, kind of like buying out an event space. Campground sites usually run between $15 - $30 per night per site (two people), you usually can't cram a bunch of people on one site as the capacity is regulated by the water/sewer facilities. As for comparison, hotels could easily run $50-100 per night per couple, we probably wouldn't be able to hang out in the lot, BBQ, etc.
I think that if we make it as organized as possible we'd probably get people to come from farther away, I know I would.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks, and again sorry for any rants,
im game for a meet too , what we need to do though is start a new thread
im in morgantown,wv

BTW, Jeremy, did you ever sell the LX-E? I was in Morgantown in Aug visiting family, had a BBQ in the park by VoTech. I miss WV.
Let's see what kind of response to my post we get before a new thread is started.
If I head the meet committee, lol, this thing will happen.
Billzie, Mansfield is cool because of nearby Mid Ohio, and Norfold dragway!!!
I'm in Dayton. Weekends are better, good weather is better yet!!!!
Definitely going to be a weekend like Fr-Sa-Su, choice of any or all days.
You local guys keep sending in the ideas for there. Keep in mind it doesn't have to be there, it just looked like s good centrally located place.
knowing ohio, and it's weather, could it be late-june? i can remember on one of my birthdays (early june) it was 47 degrees outside. and i figured by then i'll have a majority of the mods done i have in mind..
Sup Bill ,
Yeah i ended up selling the Lx-E it met a Unkind Fate , Make a long story short , Burned the #2 exaust valve had the head off to get refurbished ,

My turbo is in so I'm up for a meet this spring. I need to get to a dyno and wideband tune this thing before I can run at the track though. I still need something for timing too!!
It seems to me that most of the people interested in coming to the meet are from OH, PA, and WV. I think that we should keep it on the south eastern side of OH if possible - that way more people could come. If there are folks west of OH that want to come we can keep it central in OH, but the closer it is to the center of those who would like to come, the better the turn out. I will be there for sure as long as the date fits my schedule.
central ohio sounds better for me.
South East Ohio is great for me because that is where I am.
However, I know that it isn't a good fit, so I am big enough to say that it should be somewhere else. And not necessarily because the most people leave closer to that place. We have to look at all the angles. I think it is more important that it is in a location that offers all of the things I mentioned in my long reply. If we don't do it in a place that will have the broadest appeal accross the board, too many of us will find a reason NOT to go.
I recognize this, I hope you do too.
hell, as long as if i know where it is (and how far) well in advance (and not get arrested or anything like that) i can make it. no problem.
I won't be available much between now and early March as I'll be out of town on a long road trip for the whole month of Feb. We're going to the Grand Canyon/Sedona and then to Vegas BABY! and then swinging back through Chicago to see my wifes' Mom on the way back to Athens Ohio.
In my little bit of investigating, there are plenty of campgrounds in Ohio to do this at, the problem is finding one willing to host the event and getting the reservations for an ample number of sites.
Also, Mid-Ohio turns out to be ungodly expensive to run at, it's over $400 each.
Can you guys do some investigating of local tracks? Dragstrip and maybe the local SCCA chapters to find if there is local event with closed course. That way we could do one day (or half day) of runs at one place and the other day (or half day) at the other place?
As far as date goes, the later the better for me. Niether of my cars will be done, but I will show up with whatever I have available to me, even if it's the wifes' Saturn!
Keep it rollin...
