every other ford it shuts off but this escort, nope radio will keep playing if i take key out and shut door. unless its on some timer, but i havent stood there after leaving to watch, i shut off the power button when i leave.
That is actually the cylinder. The switch is behind that. Usually people replace the switch instead of the whole thing to avoid having multiple keys for doors and ignition.
well got it all apart, sprayed some windex into switch and now the key wont turn it on, so have to do the switch with a screwdriver since i took it off the back of ignition, also had to pull spring out of steering lock so it would free up.
gonna take the ignition cylinder off soon, seems the reason the radio was working is they had a wire pushed into the ignition hot on the plug heres a pic i pulled it out, one good thing is they already disabled the key chime.
