once the car is running i will get sound clips...
know of any muffleers thar dose'nt have a lot if inside cabin sound but still sound good?(other than stock)
I just have to find someone with a digicam that does good video and I will post those clips...
Here is my ZX2 with a Borla muffler and stock piping. Really love the sound of it. Not loud, but can still hear it.
Here is a video clip of meet I attended in Little Rock, AR. All of it is of us driving around, but you can hear the car as I drive.
can you pm with the model and in/outlet?
After extensive testing that Pacesetter mufflers are Shit. It is really really raspy. Sounds like someone threw a hand full of pennies in my muffler. I think the sound is due to poor quality of baffling. Its sounds great at certain rpms (or levels of vibration in the exhasut) but gets really raspy as i stated above.
I have a quick fix, when i wash my car I simply fill my muffler with water and and rev, makes it louder without the rasp.
I am considering useing some re-bar to bend some of the baffling before I replace the muffler with either a 40 series, or some I have come to the conclusion type of magnaflow.
It sounds like some of the baffling is loose, but after about an hour of driving the rasp dissappears....
heres the clip....

i like the sound definitely. not ricey at all.
btw, what kinda exhaust tip is that?
its the pacesetter tips, its the only thing I like about the system LOL
well gentlemen, this weekend i took the plunge. and i finally got the exhaust redone. the stock one from 1995 was rotting out, and forced me to get it all redone. so i ordered some parts: flowmaster 40-series deltaflow muffler, magnaflow cat, and pacesetter headers. a bit of a hp gain, but a definite sound difference. i havem't yet decided if i'm truly happy with the sound, but it idles rather quietly, which i like. need a few more weeks to break things in.
p.s. when you get the pacesetters, pay the extra $$$ for the thicker coating. that shit began peeling by the time i got the scort home (3 miles away from the shop).
Ok you need to post a sound clip ASAP, I would really like to hear what it sounds like with a 40 series. I am going to replace my "muffler" in the next week or two so i need to make a choice real soon...
i just resently repipded my 323. i did the bp swap in it a few months back and it needed a new exhaust bad! i did a full 2.25" mandreal bend set-up from the header back. im running a stock 95/96 escort gt header. no cat and no flex pipe. i have solid motor mounts. so the flex is not an issue. i have one 12" resinator back by my passenger seats just before it turd to clear the gas tank. then a Raptor turbo muffler from the local parts store. i used alot of stuff i had just laying around and from old projects. total cost was about 100 bucks in supplies. then i paid my welder 60 bucks. its a little raspy underload and wot for the mid range rpms. but at freeway speeds its almost like stock. i can talk with anyone at pretty much regular volume. if i had a cat it would be basically stock just bigger pipe and nicer flow.
sure, but what's the easiest way i would go about posting a sound clip?
I'm a huge fan of Magnaflow...
First, capture the sound with something like a digital camera that can take video or an mp3 player with a mic.
Then post the clip on www.putfile.com
or just make a quick video, get someone to tape it for you so you can rev it up. Make sure you rev it up though, I cant stand it when people post clips of their idle....
okay, i'll try and get to it this weekend. 8) thanks for the help.
I cant wait, I really need to change this muffler...
So did you get a sound clip?
ok what i did for my 91 was get the pacesetter header and no cat but the stock resonator off a taurus and a thrush glass pack and my shit is the bomb it sounds better than my friends rx7.
