Heres my deal.. I live ina town in Penn. where theres no emmisions so i want to bypass the exhaust gas recirculation deal... i would get more power... plus i doubt with 175,000 miles if its working right... the A/C does not work neither.. the clutch and lines are bad.. i want to take it out and either get a dummy pully or a shorter belt.. i would gain horses too.. basically for this junker i want it to be a sleeper while it still lives.. im runnin into the ground.. just wondering about the EGR though and what needs to be done.. (I could get rid of cat) also Im burning ALOT of oil.. PCV? or what.. what does that

The EGR system allows an inert gas to mix with the intake air as a sort of filler, keeping the theoretical compression ratio high during part throttle cruise. The inert gas is exhaust gas. The additional gasses also keep combustion chamber temperatures down, resulting in lower NOX readings. When working properly the EGR shouldn´t effect WOT performance at all (ie no HP loss). Really, the EGR just helps you get better gas mileage and pollute less with little to no side effects.

If you´ve got an airpump fed EGR system (which I doubt), then the airpump is causing a parasitic loss. Otherwise, don´t remove it. (are you sure your state doesn´t have visual emissions inspections?)

inspection is not a problem at all.. ive got hookups.. actually im in ny and my uncle has the stickers waitin.. so basically im not loosing anything in the egr ysstem.. cool.. not touching it.. ill get the cat checked out tho because it might be leaking oil? if it runs thru it.. not sure theres all types of pipes runnin thru it.. but the a/c im takin out..

about the oil burning.. what do i need to stop oil from burning?(cheaply) addatives.. Rislone.. new pcv valve(i heard from sumone)... i get a "blue" smoke constantly pouring out.. i never dealt with these problems with my other cars
