So which is really better CarFax or the competitors? NMVTIS or CarFax? I've gotten two reports on my car total cost $5.00 both the same both pulled from NMVTIS but haven't gotten one from CarFax yet. I'm wondering form those that have used CarFax or another service which is better? I've put a sample from the report I got from the NMVTIS database which cost $2.50 per report. I'm thinking about buying a new car and selling my current car and am wondering what's in CarFax that isn't in the report I've got?

The Carfax the dealer gave me before I bought my car was 6 pages long. Every time the car went in for state inspection is listed as well as the mileage.

Plus, if you have a Carfax done and buy the car and find something wrong that should have been listed in the Carfax but was not they will offer buy the car back from you.

Most dealers will give you a Carfax for free if they feel it will sell the car. If you ask them for one but they refuse walk away. The dealer I bought my Escort from even offered a Carfax report before any paperwork was signed. Which was good because I forgot to ask for one.

Well according to the information in the report I've got I'm either the 2nd or 3rd owner of this escort/tracer. It was bought and has appeared to have stayed in Florida and as far as I'm aware there isn't any requirements for a state inspection. I should have a CarFax pulled on this before thinking about selling it so the buyer will know all is good with it and it's not junk or anything.

Well why waste time asking questions when we can figure them out ourselves! CarFax just confirms what I already know only lists each time the registration was updated which was quite a bit over 11 years. I'm the second owner of the car first owner used it for fleet which explains why it was decently maintained when I got it.

Carfax dosen't always have everthing. There is another one that is better, but the name slips my mind right now.
