Some Punk in a 2000 or so Grand Prix was driven like he stole it a few days ago, it must of been Mom's car. It had no badges, but it did have dual stock exshast if that mean's any thing. We where lined up at two differant stops light. Both times the same thing happend, He had a better launch because of his smooth slush box tranny and fat tires, but once I got in second My little 93 Pony pulled pretty hard on him. When I pulled away I give him a nice thumbs up but he did'nt look over

Nice. Chances are it was the higher model, if he had any chance at all against your 'scort, turboed and everything. I've raced the base model ones and given them decent runs for their money, beaten some, seems like the newer ones are a bit faster.

The GTP (Supercharged) ones are quick as hell and for an automatic they can chirp the tires at a 35 roll which is mighty impressive! Only reason I know is because I was sitting in the back seat when my friend in his 87 Teg got his ass handed to him by the GP. Wasn't an 04 though, it was a 97-03. Still that was crazy seeing an auto chirp the tires from a downshift! The supercharger whine was faint but still there.

GT's run high to low 15's depending on driver....

GTP's run really low 15's to low 14's depending on driver. It only takes a couple hundred to get into the 13's......

And yes there is a big difference between the GT and the GTP......The fastest 3.8L N/A in a w-body is running 13.5 compared to high 10's with the GTP

Good kill!

It was a GT. A properly driven GTP would have owned you pretty badly, but it was probably a mommy car, so not necessarily.

twin exhaust pipes mean it was at least a GT model.
So A GTP is so fast it would own a mid 14 second Escort?

Any way's, this post is so old I think it was when I was still on the stock 13" tires and small turbo @ 6psi.

They're low 15/high 14 second cars STOCK. So don't underestimate them.

I'm not underestimating them, I just dont understand your logic.
How can a low 15/high 14 second car own a 14.5 car? Even properly driven. Last time I checked, when a car is owned by another, that means the slower car was owned, not the faster car. I guess I'm just a old man and cant keep up with the lingo.

You don't run a 14.5 every time either.
Last time I was at the track I did, I only made 2 passes. The one pass is the time slip in my cardomain against a Trans AM, and the other pass is the one on video against the Vett, both where 14.5's :p so ha ha

yeha the guy across the street has a GTP and i give him **** all the time. But ya never know.
I cant believe your comparing your modded escort to a GTP. Your lucky he cant drive...as he would absolutely rape your poor little car.....

I believe Jeff beat him....that little pony has alot of power/weight. Besides GTP's blowers get heatsoak bad, there not very consistent until you I/C them.......
