I don't "believe" that one man has the answers, but I do believe that the past does contain some of the answers. As we go into this new year, a new President will enter office. We need to get behind him and rallye our country back to a superpower. Take care of us and let the world worry about itself for a few years. Even mother theresa had a break now and again!

I for one am going to spend a little less on "hobbies" and focus more on the bottom line. I think were looking about 18 months before we see any change in the country/economy. So protecting my family financially is my resolution.

All that matters to me is that 2008 is over. Worst. Year. Ever.

My resolutions? Well... I vow to complete my SPI swap.

Im going to have to agree with will smith on the whole resolutions topic (paraphrased quote)

"I dont believe in new years resolutions, because if its so important that I am dedicating a year to it, it is probably something I should not wait to start working on"

I always make one but nothing changes (supprise). So this year im mixing it up and not making a resolution. I am just goinng to live my life, and work on being a better person, to both myself and others.

As for thoughts.... Bush has only been in office 8 YEARS to dig us this deep?

last year i did the very cliche resolution to quit smoking... oddly enough, i did it. so thats good i guess.

imo if you make a resolution it shouldnt be some huge thing or you probably wont do it lol. just pick something thats manageable that you'd like to change.

this year i'm going to make a concious effort to keep my apartment and garage/tools cleaner and more organized. its a f'in mess right now lol.

Congratulations, Jon.

Turbo, I'm with ya on that. The lady and I are saving boatloads for a house in the next year or 2.

But, my true resolution is to not step foot in any Walmart store in 2009. I hate that store.

my resolution is to... uhmm... do something with my life. something if anything. finally get hired somewhere i can work with my stupid pacemaker or at least finish my escort project. something i need to do, something. because over the past year i haven't been able to do anything having to be "the man of the house" and fix EVERYTHING it left no time for me, or my schoolwork, so i'm glad i don't have that anymore and i've been gettting a's and b's instead of c's and d's. like i said, my resolution is to do SOMETHING. get a job, finish something, prove myself to ...myself? I'm just glad to wake up every morning.

Ditto. We've been looking, just for the sake of looking, for the past 6 months.

Girlfriend got a raise recently, I'm scheming a way to make some money on the side doing what I do. If 2009 is good to us, we can pull in somewhere around 110K next year. Would really put us in a good situation a year or so from now.

Living cheap while we can. Taking advantage while we can. Put down a big sum and pay for everything up front, while we can. Only happens once in life.

same here... there's a house on my street for sale so i grabbed a panphlet on it and it has a pricing break down... if you put 80,000 down, as opposed to 20,000 (20% as opposed to 5%), my monthly payments are only like 400 bucks cheaper... which seems ridiculous..

2009 is looking good for us too, with about the same income as you.. around 115K+ combined. let's see how it goes! woot woo!

I'm looking to put at least 20% down. Not too concerned about the difference in payments, but I don't want to carry a mortgage any longer than 15 years.

Anyway, back on topic.

What else do you fools have planned for next year?

This is going to sound wierd...but to not hook up with a scum sucking slut...I somehow did it twice this year and lost all of my possesions....excluding my car...but also I saw someone said that they were going to do something with their life...well hopefully around May I will be shipping off to San Antonio for Air Force basic....other than that I want to start and finish my first turbo scort...since I'll have the financial backing...and also have enough saved by the end of the year to start looking at new cars and a house at the beginning of next year.

damn, that's a lot. what type of house price range are you looking at? detached? semi? town?
Somewhere around here, Brockville. Not in the city, but within 10-15 minutes of the city.

We'll probably be in the 200-250K range. We'll see how much of a dip prices take in the coming year or 2.

Maybe I'll be able to get my back fixed completely, and be able to get back into the regular job market of fast food in this area....maybe I'll even find a meaningful job that pays better than 7k a year. I might even develop a sense of humor and become an optimist.

I actually plan to finish some of my guitar effects pedals, and maybe start selling the stuff online....along with music to hopefully make some extra money. Anybody need an amplifier repaired?

I still stick to my previous comment, with adding I should buy a mosin nagant, and buy more handgun ammo for my stockpile.
