here is the background story, my alloy wheels were shot, clear coat was gone, and didnt want to spend money on having them sodablasted

well, i went to the jy today and gave him two of mine alloy wheels that i got broken from the tire, and 20 bucks.

well i nose around and find it, a red ford escort with 13" steel rims complete with the ford baby hubcaps, which il reapint later and 3 NEW douglas exra-trac II tires!!!

ok so i go to put them on, same make and model of car, 2 years diff, the car i got them from was a 93 and mine is a 95

the caliper is in the way of rim!!

what the hell? my old cutlass ciera had 14's and i put on 13s fine and dandy, yet this car the calipers are in the way!


so i guess i have two options, because no way im going to take these back, 3 new tires for 20 buck!

1. Find some way to space these out
2. use the rotors from the 93 at they jy

You should have checked here first. Escorts that have 13" rims have smaller front brakes. I think they discontinued the smaller brakes in 94.

Its not just the rotors, you will need to replace the spindles, calipers, and caliper brackets too. Your gonna end up spending more time and cash than its worth and end up with junkyard tires and crappy brakes. In short, not worth it. Get some 14's and call it a day.

WHY did for change bolt pat's everytime the made a new model of car??? it would be sweet to have new focus rims on here, but no, had to change them, even on the stinking contour!!!

why did ford make diff bolt pats for the escort, its a royal pain in the ass!! sure you can put new foucs rims on the old style escort's but lets just screw with people

well im not gonna give up, i have 3 brand new tires +1 somewhat decent tire and with the rims and hub caps. 3 new tires alone is $130 bucks so...

if i would have to replace the spindle, and all that crap, could i just swap a frames, or would it be easier to space them out? im not giving up, and i have plnety of time

Dude, give it up. It just isn't worth the trouble and trust me, as a person that has driven Escorts with both brake setups you will not like the smaller rotors. Get 2 more 14's to go with your current ones and sell the new wheels and tires for $150. That $150 should cover the two junkyard 14's and new tires for them.

The reason the Escort and Focus have different lug patterns is because the 91+ Escort is a Mazda design and the Focus is a Ford design.

yes you should just get some 14 for the car. the 13s make the fender gaps look huge and ugly. and the bigger brakes are a big plus too.

Why does the younger generation do this? You're playing the BLAME GAME... all the information is out there.. in black and white. Had you done your research before purchasing these wheels, you could have saved yourself a lot of hassle and money.

Now you want to cause yourself a whole lot MORE hassle and money because you're too darn stubborn to admit that you screwed up? This isn't Ford's fault.. this is yours.

Suck it up, admit that you screwed up, and get some 14" wheels and be done with it. That's what men do.

Don't worry, with that mentality maybe one day you can run for president...

I have to agree with HyBrad, as a saw A great deal for some studded tires mounted on 13 inch wheels, Threw it out on this Forum will they fit? And was surprised they would not! Learn from others mistakes and you will go far grasshopper!
