Welcome to the forums. Hopefully you dont live in an area where rust is a problem. I always advise new owners to look under the car, and check for rust on the brake lines. I had to replace the lines to the rear axle, since they were Very Rusty, up beside the fuel tank. (the car's entire life was spent in the suburbs of Washington DC, where they use a little salt on the roads most winters). One of the lines had rusted enough to empty the master cylinder in a few days of sitting still. (Glad we werent driving it at the time!). You have to get the car up a little, like having the rear wheels on a pair of ramps - so you can lie on the ground looking straight up. You wont see the entire run of the brake lines by just looking in from the side of the car.
I also had some rust on the undercarriage. Now I squirt the rusty parts with motor oil now and then, to retard further rust.
Best of Luck with you 'scort.
