I got a 91 escort gt with a blown motor several months back and have just got around to pulling and replacing the motor. The new motor has 70k and had been sitting in a garage for about 2 years. Upon completing the project, i fired the car up and it was knocking and smoking like crazy, thought the motor had a blown head gasket and the bottom end probably need a rebuild. I let it idle up to temperature and the knocking began to quiet down but it was still smoking quiet a bit. I took it around the block and after about 5 minutes or so all the knock had gone and it isn't smoking whatsoever. Just wondering what you guys think this would be caused by? Stuck rings, blocked oil passages maybe....idk. Here is a link to how it was running before it cleared up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m2W9tr0jk8 Anyways im not complaining just curious, New owner of a descent cayman gt Got this car for 450 bucks with the new motor.
