We are picking up our new 1999 ZX2 5 speed in a few days. Excited to be part of the ZX2 racing community. We are going to be racing on dirt, 1/4 mile and 3/8 mile high bank. The car is gutted but never ran as a race car. We currently have a 1995 Neon SOHC that has been rolled and is wore out. The first thing we are going to do is take a sway bar off a escort wagon. Then we are going to have the engine taken apart and gone thought. Any suggestions on what else to do with the engine? I am assuming the same basics in setting this car up compared to a neon apply. The ZX2 has a shorter wheel base compared to our neon and the length is maybe a little longer? Any tips and tricks would be a great help. I would rather do a lot of the work before we get the cage put in.

Always looking for tips. We still haven't started working on the car yet, but should be soon.

Alright, well A#1, we need to know what your rules say. There are a LOT of little things a person can do to get power out of the ZX2 motor, but if they have strict rules and tech the car regularly, that makes it much tougher.
