Swoooooooooooosh
I'm venting my BOV like a true ricer would.

It's a modified DSM, it's been crushed and the internal bypass dohicky has been rerouted to hold more boost. A buddy is letting me borrow it.
The spring is tight enough to stay shut at idel so the motor stay's running. It does'nt have any issues between gear like I was exspecting to, no puff of smoke or studdering.
It did stall on me once, not sure if it was from the BOV venting or just some other problem. I dont know if I'll keep it this way or not.

your gunna love it. mine stays shut at idle speed no matter what. it takes 20''Hg and at least 1psi to open it. mine sounds like a tire leaking air at lower pressures and an air hose disconecting at higher boost.

My race track requires remote igntion kill with a relocated battery. Theres a switch on the back of the car that shut's off the fuel pump and the ignition coil pack.

That good to here that your 1g DSM BOV is staying shut at idle, I have had a few and they were leaky bastards. But they do sound awsome vented.

P.S. - How do the Escorts like having vented BOV, since the air is Metered before the manifold? Becuase with my Talon you have to have a BOV that closes good at idle to vent or is dies out or rpm flutter from the leaking air coming in..

im not having any issues with mine being vented. some people say it will richen out on you but im ok in the fuel department.

now MAF guys its not as big of a deal with them do to they can put eh MAF anywhere inline and it wil be ok. the VAM runners have to run it on the preturbo side if you shovel air to the VAM it like to become a scrap metal pyle.

as long as the bov is sealed under vaccume its all good. it will still run with it leaking slightly, the most noticable will be at idle.

help educate me why you would "vent" a BOV? please forgive my ignorance, but the closest to forced induction I get is ozone in a can.
Because it sounds neat, that's all.
When it's piped back into the turbo inlet like all stock turbo car's are, it's not as loud.

Jeff that looks good man. How loud is it??
Thanks.
When it's vented you can hear it, and I'm sure the car's next to me can to.
When it's piped back in you can notice it, but it's not in your face type loud.

How much boost are you running?

I tried running one of those open before at 18psi and the noise was sickening (not to mention the crappy idle). Sounded cool for the first 10 minutes, but got old real fast. At that much boost, for the amount of noise it makes, you better have an 11 second car or better! :)

With it plumbed back into the intake, it was still loud, but not to the point were it was ubnoxious. Definitely noticeable by any cars around you.. if there are still any cars around you by the time you're shifting at 18psi. 8)
