Sheesh! You sound like a northeastern clone of my southeastern ZX2 situation. There are only a couple of guys here that can help in this area of interest. I don't think they frequent the boards much either because you get a post or two of help and don't get more replies to your follow-up concerns--not even an ackknowledgement stating they don't have the answer. My suggestion is to do what I'm in the midst of doing. Wait a long time until you find a used tranny and then just swap it in. I'm currently taking one down and then will put one in or have it put in. Taking it down has been long and tedious due to no experience doing it.

Is it specific to the ZX2? Even if it's for any 3rd gen, yeah, go ahead and email it to me at [email protected] I'm almost done with the removal but need some more info. Thanks

I removed the tranny. What a major pain in the buttocks. Ask me any questions before or during the process. I will give you detailed info. Mind you, I got it at the junkyard so I had their engine hoist to work with. I would only be able to help if you're doing it that way. I almost can't see how I could do it otherwise. I'm taking a big risk on buying an already bad tranny but at least it came from a car that was crashed pretty good. That increases the chances the tranny is in good condition.

I would like the paper but since I will not be rebuilding my old one, or putting in the replacement one myself, there's no hurry. I'm getting charged $180 by the guy who usually repairs my automatic trannys to install this manual one on the car. At that price, I save quality free time with my kids on a day off from work. I also don't have to hurt myself and work like a dog doing it. Then there's the adjusting it to get it all right. Now I have to wait for who knows how long to get $180. I already had to pay for the used tranny by credit card and I am NOT doing that again. The card debt just keeps growing. It just took so long to find a manual tranny in the yards that came from a crashed car. I think my car's been sitting at my dad's place for over half a year now. I had to get it now. If it's ok, the $117 it cost me is a steal! Ofcourse, the work I did has its price in work and free time lost. People don't seem to understand what they lose and only think of the money they save.

Ok, the guy replaced the tranny and only charged the $180. He let me leave him a post dated check. He will not deposit it until my next paycheck hits my bank account. I've done business with him enough and, in the past, has actually let me pay him $700 in two parts while letting me take the car home. The tranny works but I hope you checked your clutch before you dropped the tranny. Mine now seems to need it because the pedal is so close to the floor just like before the replacement was put in.
