How can I "modify" my stock air box so I can get more air to the motor? O drive a 1993 Ford Escort LX :-Y

I don´t know exactly how the lx is set up but I took off the air silencer box and the breather tube that goes behind the turn signal on my GT. I´m going to try to find a way to cut a hole in that metal under the air box and fabricate a tube that will go down in there. meanwhile I still need to plug my silencer tube inlet.

The two good things are it´s slightly louder and I can hear my VICS, and I´m getting 21 mpg on a regular basis now. ;-)

the LX sounds like it´s setup pretty much exactly the same, minus the VICS </jealousy>
