I have a 1993 Ford Escort GT with the 1.8L DOHC engine. There is a molded coolant hose on the intake side of the engine that is leaking coolant onto the transaxle. Took it to be fixed, but mechanic says that part is disconnected (at least for his supplier). He told if I could find the part, he would install it for cost of labor. Trouble is, I can't find it. I think it is the thermostat bypass hose, but I'm not 100% sure. The hose runs from behind the thermostat under the intake manifold and goes back into the engine right above the oil filter. Could someone help me positively ID this hose, and maybe where to find a new part?

It's the line to your oil cooler; you can just use regular 5/8" ID hose, it doesn't have to be molded. I've linked a thread about it below.

Shame that all the pictures are gone on the linked article.

our former owner, had problems during those times with the hosting company and they were pulling images and such out of posts without permission, Not much we can do unless the original author comes back and puts them back up.

And of course the original author may be long gone, or the pictures might be on a computer he got rid of years ago...

And we often hear that once something's on the internet it's on forever. I guess that only applies to embarrassing pictures.

Where is the thermostat bypass on a 2nd generation EGT, and what does it look like?

You can just go to autozone and have them cut a hose to the length of the one on the car. I just took my off and took it up there and said I need a hose this big and this long. $5 or $10 but I can't remember.
