There are tons of cars made in Canada. Windstar, Ford Trucks, CV/GM, Intrepid, Concord, 300M, Some Jeep, i dunno which one, Impala, Monte Carlo, Regal, Century, GM trucks, Tracker, Oddesey, Civic(sorry about that) 1.7 EL, Corrola, Solara, Chrysler minivans, I´m sure I´m forgetting stuff. AFAIK they are all considered American by the EPA(well I´m not sure of the intrepid and its twins because they are stamped here too.
Tons of cars used to be made in Canada. Tempo/Topaz 4dr, Camaro/ Firebird , well I don´t wanna go back to the fifties it´s too hard.
I remember the 92 Crown Vic was not in the Motor Trend Car of the Year contest because it was called an import by the EPA because it was over 50% Canadian or some such stat. Ford did not want it in the Import contest so it went untested.

Just because the part was from mexico doesn´t mean the car was. Or was that not what you meant?

The reason is not worker productivity. Ford´s plant ratings on that stat run the gamut and the country seems to matter little. The main reason is the Cheaper labor. The Cheap Dollar makes it very attractive to set up shop in Canada. The Auto pact of 1965 made it possible for parts to be imported from the US duty free, and the car imported to the US duty free. We do not have better ethics than you, but thanx for the compliment. :-]

Where´d you hear that? Big 3 employees are CAW members, which is part of UAW. CAW negotiators have cosistently garnered better deals than thier American counterparts in both wage increases ant benefits. CAW members have got it made! I belong to the IBEW, and we have a pretty sweet package, and still the CAW has a better one! Plus their hourly wage is only about $5 less than ours and they have an easy job and don´t need any skill.
Not to degrade them or say they arte stupid, just that I had to learn a trade and get a licence to get what I have. They also have way better job security in their agreement than us or the UAW. :-(

The social system only covers general medical stuff. And only a ward too if you stay in a hospital. It does not cover dental, eyeglasses, elective stuff, drugs, semi private room, private room, massage therapy, chiropractice,and lots of other stuff. Any company that wants people to work for them had damnwell better have a benefits package. It´ll also include sickness, injury, and life insurance. In a Union, it is the union that provides all that.

´s OK Beav, And I forgot to mention that it is a work plan that covers you out of Canada. OHIP does not cover that either.
