so yesterday i changed the brakes. seeing as the car had been stting almost 20 months, i felt there was no mystery why the brakes ground. so went and got new pads and rotors, and proceeded to get to it.

i pulled the old equipment only to find there was less than 1k on the old stuff. the pads showed no wear whatsoever, writing was still clear on the side, and it was the exact brand i was putting on.

so i slap it together, no sweat, and go to take off. but now it ground constantly! baffled, i pulled one wheel to find the pad backing was digging into the hub. i then thought to myself,"self, here's the problem, the last guy pu these things on backwards, and you just followed suite, good job!"

so slightly embarrassed(and glad noone was watching) i pulled and switched the pads on both sides. hop in to take off, and it was exactly the same.

so now i'm truly mystified. i pulled the brakes, again, and took a real good look at the pads. they were both the same size, with the same distance from the slider bars to the edge of the pad. this irritated me badly. so after a contemplative cigarette, i decided to go with a high speed and technically invasive modification process with my angle grinder. so after pulling the brakes three times, an hour and a half after i started, i now have brakes that fit.

best part, i went back to autozone to talk to the guy that sold them to me, and he advised that quite a few people had ome in with that problem. he then advised me to buy the next model up, at 2 1/2 times the cost. shadey, shadey.

anyway, now i was wondering if someone would be so kind as to post the tranny pan tq setting and any pertinant, escort related details about fluid and filter changes that i may need to know.

as always, thanks for the help, you guys are great.
