You might just be better off buying a muffler and then having it welded to a custom exhaust. It probably cost aroung $150 plus the muffler, but that is installed, and you get the satisfaction of having custom work on your Scort

I have a DTM dual chamber exhaust with 4 inch tips that point up. It has 2 inch pipe on it. I am very pleased with the sound and there was noticble gain when i had new pipe from the cat back and welded. I don´t know hwta anyone else has to say about this type but I am pleased with it.

I was thinking about buying the Pacesetter Cat-Back Exhaust System for the GT 1.8L w/ a 2.5´´ Dual Angle Cut Tip and a 2.25´´ Pipe Size that i mentioned in an earlier post. But I was also thinking about modifying it... I want to get some pipe long enough to stretch it over to the other side of the car and then buy a second 2.5" Tip for that second pipe piece, that way I´m sporting twin tail pipes. I know it probably wouldn´t do anything but add a pound of weight to my car for the brackets, piping and tip. But I think that would look pretty cool...and then i would have an original piece of tail-pipe out of all the Scorts in my city, does anyone else share my sentiments?

Twin tailpipes sounds cool to me, only isn´t that kinda like a Mustang GT?

btw I might consider a cat-back system for my 94. What´s best? Looking for hp and not too loud.

I dunno about this...
but you have to be careful running too much pipe. You want to keep the exhaust velocity high enough, or else you will have stagnant gases and that hurts efficiency... at least that´s what I heard.

What should one look for in an exhaust?
And what is the most corrosion resistant? I live in the north east (NY) and the winters are BRUTAL on cars... road salt, snow, wetness... it´s terrible. I take good care of my scort, but I still can´t avoid the inevitable. What´s corrosion resistant and still relatively cheap?
Noise is good. Nice low, growling sound is what I´m lookin for...

I like my muffler´s look and sound. Thats all I have on the system right now but will be adding something new soon. If you want to see what it looks like, check out my website. Tell me what you think!

Yeah. I meant, won´t it LOOK like a stang GT, with those twin pipes? We all know your aversion to that machine. Surprises me you´d even consider such a thing!

Can you get a muffler with 2 outlets? That´d ensure the 2nd pipe would be fully functional.

Rascal, do like the way that muffler looks on your scort!!!

I don´t think it´d look like a stang GT cause they don´t have shiney pipes like the system I´m lookin at. There´s lots of cars with twin tail pipes that I like. like the Camaro Z28 and the SS. I love the look of the 4 pipes on the new Corvettes. but that wouldn´t bring me enough backpressure if i tried that. I had planned on having a hole cut in the first pipe behind the muffler and welding the second pipe onto that, bringing it around to the other car and sticking it out the back as well.

James, the Pacesetter exhaust has two pipes coming off the muffler. The leftmost pipe has to angle to the right to join the rightside pipe. You could make a cut in the left pipe, connect a mandrel-bent L-bend and run that across to the other side, another L-bend and then re-weld the original leftside muffler tip. You´ll have to cut the bumper on the left to match the right. But you would have the dual-look and both tips would match. 2 sections of pipe, 2 bends and the necessary clamps and hangers and you´d be set. I´ll be buying the PAcesetter set (Xmas gift to myself) and am thinking about doing this same thing.

Yeah i didn´t think about cutting the bumper, i just looked at it, never noticed it was bent up a bit to allow for the pipes. I don´t really care about this bumper cause I want to get the rear skirts from Erebuni at a later date anyway.

2redscorts: Yeah I like the way it looks and sounds..it doesn´t stick out like a sore thumb like I thought it would when it was first put on and the sound is pretty good. I put that thing on before all these "rice" boys started doing it after Fast and the Furious. I´ve gotten many compliments on my muffler and the way it sounds...hell I had one guy kidding around that he wanted to know where I lived so he could steal it...I said good luck getting past my dog, alarm, muffler clamps that are well rusted that they won´t come off. LOL Hell, I saw a Buick Regal today with a muffler similar to what´s on a sport compact...I about passed out from laughing too damn hard.

Okay I´m sure its already been said on the site here but here´s what I recommend.

2.25" cat-back. custom. I wouldn´t go much bigger because that´s where I started to notice a loss in toque.

right now I´m running through AirDynamic Racing´s (San Diego CA) (its basically a 3A racing) duel inline mufflers that are a 2.5" in with 3.5" out.

The sound is AWESOME. Not tin-like like you´ve heard on Honda´s.
