In the STi earlier this week, at a red light. Mustang pulls up beside me, half a length behind me.

Now, street racing in Ontario is a huge fine. Up to 10K I believe and 6 month suspension, plus, I'm just not dumb enough to race on the streets.

I granny through 1st gear, he does too. 2nd, I drive my casual city driving, he does too. Then, part way through 2nd he stomps it. I just smile and wave as he passes me, in a 50km/h zone, on a busy main street.

Dumbass.

that's right just let them get the tickets ;) I just do my speed limits sometimes I give it a little go in 2nd for fun just to see the "what kinda car is that??!?!" look on some people's faces lol. idk what the fines are here for street racing but it can't be good or cheap!

way to REALLY represent Yoda! the smart way! plus you know you TOTALLY coulda taken him anyway so why be stupid just to prove it to him..... risk is not worth the reward of showing a guy up

Yeah, the fines here have really been stiffened the last couple years. Car gets an automatic impound, too. It's one thing to mess around a bit on a country road, rippin' up to 100km/h or something, but I'm not going on a main drag in the city. Doesn't matter what I'm in and what the other car is.

He's a Fail! STI FTMFW anyways lol
If we actually did go, it would be close I think. I researched the car a bit...makes about 320hp or so. Says it runs a 13.2/13.3 in the 1/4. I would be about the same.

If it's not a straight line, it wouldn't be close, though.

a real driver doesnt just floor it wherever he wants for every guy in a nice car. a real driver races once in a while, when the setting is exactly right. (when u wont get arrested or kill somebody) yeah theres always a risk, but thats why u gotta be extra carefull and not just be like

"OHH HES IN AN STI, IM GONNA RACE HIM!"

In Dallas Texas, they have a mobile crusher and if you get caught street racing (for extenuating circumstances) they crush it right on the side of the road and let you watch.
Isn't that a violation of the forth amendment? I could understand it though if you were caught several times racing with the same car and the judge awarded your car to the state. And won't that just encourage any racers to run from the cops if caught? I've seen videos online of the street racing that happens in Texas and most of the cars are stupid fast. If the cops show up they just tach it up to 170 MPH and get away.

Here in Elkhart, the local P.D. has two 2009 Mustang GT's they use for noise ordinance enforcement and catching people street racing. They did a good job of hiding the lights behind the grill, so unless you know where to look, you can't tell it's a cop.
And that is BS crushing your car for street racing. I don't condone street racing, but that punishment is a little extreme.

no, if youve been caught before, that is perfectly reasonable.

ask the families of people who have been killed as a result of street racing, im sure theyd say crush em. you are directly risking your life and everyone around you. think how many young teenagers go racing around trying to impress their buddies, girlfriends, etc and just end up dying in a crash because the moron didnt know what he was doing. even the experienced drivers can have accidents and kill people, nobodys immune to it however good a driver they are.

I don't know if I agree with the "crush the car here and now" but I do agree with a very strong fine/car impound/license suspension for racing and excessive speeding. It kills people, fast.

If you're closing off streets and racing (Thanks Vin Diesel), then I say crush the car.

If you got caught racing your Neon against a Civic up to reasonable (but illegal speeds in the area) I say fine, suspension etc.
