I was in one of the larger of my local parts stores and found a Super Turbo (tm) muffler...It was, perhaps because it was open box, priced at $20...APPARENTLY it can have a good affect on power. Can anyone tell me how I should go about choosing a muffler, and if this one is any good. That $20 price tag is pretty tempting. Thanks

The first time I had my exhaust system done, I opted for a "super turbo" type thing...to be honest the scort sounded like a kazoo on crack.

Since then I have had the system redone with a duel inline canisters that I purchased through AirDynamic Racing in San Diego CA. I LOVE the sound of the scort now. Its deep and throaty. Its sad when I have friend that tell me so and so in town was trying to get their car to sound like mine

If you like a real rally car sound throw a Moroso Spiral-Pro muffler on it. I did and it sounds awesome. I have 21/2 inch custom pipework from the manifold back so it may sound a little different with a smaller setup. I can´t wait to throw the header on .

I´ll be replacing my muffler this month. Checked out Meinike and they wanted $205 just to replace the muffler with one of those $20 ´turbo´ types, wasn´t going to be an exact fit so the installer was going to get creative. I said No Thanks and walked out. The next shop I tried was cool, guy came out and we talked about what I wanted, not what the installer wanted. This guy is going to put on a Magnaflow, hangers, new tip, installed for $125. Sound like a good deal or should I keep looking? And Blade, glad to see that I passed on the turbo since you think it sounds like a Kazoo!

I like a free flowing type exhaust and if I thought I could get away with it I would run a side pipe, but this is the real world so I said screw those little kazoos.I got me a glass pack on my car now baby!I figure there´s so much they can get me for I might as well.I did however get one that has similar dimensions to my stock muffler so the only time you really notice is when I step in it.that and I didn´t want to have a back fire due to a complete lack of back pressure.I fully intend to replace my exhaust from front to back but until then you´ll hear me leavin.

The aftermarket system I got on the car now doesn´t have the stock center resonator so I´m going to install a glasspack inline there, and then a freeflow muffler in the stock location. Think that´ll give me the sound I want plus the power to compliment the other mods. Has anyone tried this type of setup? Don´t think the glasspack will be too loud due to the additional muffler on the back end.

dunno if it helped my power, but i simply removed the center resonator(the one right behind the converter) and replaced it with straight pipe, left the rear muffler alone, and its nicely louder while running thru the gears, but idles quietly. i did this right before i was GONNA change muffler, and wound up leaving it that way. it has a nice european sound, and people turn and look to see what just went by. i dont know why it sounds as good as it does, maybe cause i have a K&N open kit on it, but it doesnt take much to make a GT sound nicer. I wasnt looking for that "obnoxious unbaffled honda" sound.

What about the pacesetter header and the matching exaust system for my 94 LX. The price is okay but does anyone know how it sounds? I´m gonna replace the exaust all at the same time so I´d like to get an idea before I shell out the cash. Thank you.

I bought the Pacesetter header second hand from a friend, haven´t had any problems with it. Got the O2 sensor hookup, bolts on pretty easy. Mind you, I have a 95 GT so may be differences between the GT and LX that I don´t know about. But reliability has been good, no problem with welds, etc.

i´m learning to weld this year for a school project. then i can put on my own muffler...

but what my friend did for a while was just take his stock muffler off and not put anything on in its place...so exhaust was coming out somewhere under the car...but hey it was faster and sounded really nice...that was a 240sx. i´ve always liked the silencer option mufflers.
