They did, although I don't know if that will directly fit into an MTX-3....worth a try though. If anyone has an LSD to donate, I have an MTX-3 apart...perfect time to install and test.

The LSD, I believe will fit. I remember my dad talking about installing one in an escort GT back in the day, as well as swapping the Escort ring and pinion into a SHO.

This is an old thread

And full of wrong information.

The SHO's don't have LSD's and the bellhousing bolt pattern is the same as the other big front wheel drive Fords from the era and also some of the rear drive vehicles too.

Care to elaborate on that more?

Well I can say for sure no SHO I've ever seen or owned had a limited slip differential. They are known for being GREAT one wheel peel bandits! And I can attest to that. :D

The second part is self explanatory. Front wheel drive V6 autos and manuals from that era used the same bell housing bolt pattern, and the Aerostar and Ranger transmissions in either manual or auto bolt onto the back of V6 SHO blocks. In addition you CAN bolt an Aerostar manual transmission on and use it without modification but it is NOT a sporting piece of equipment by a long stretch. To use the Aerostar manual bellhosing with say a T-5 does require an adaptor somewhere.

This is an old OLD thread...

I converted my 90 LX to manual from an 86 wagon. The codes on my trans aren't on the chart in the first post:
RWB-CE / E6ER-UB

edit:

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I wasn't reading the chart correctly, but I will say my trans shows up on two lines...

I have two MTX III transaxles, one from an early '88 GT and the other from an '89 GT. Decoding the part numbers using the Helms manuals, shows the 88 had a taller first gear than the 89. I am definitely interested in this, as I feel 1st gear on these is way to low, almost useless. With all the extra turbo power, I am looking to put higher gearing in it. Primarily 1st and the final.

Yes first gear is too low for turbo builds. As soon as there is boost - extreme wheel spin. Same with second gear.
I used a centerforce dual friction clutch (235mm)
Tire Wheel Automotive tire Motor vehicle Gas

as well - I think it was for an SHO Taurus (it has been a long time)
