    Lol! Acronyms are fun sometimes.

Anyway, I haven't got a full howto written up, But I'm working on it, with full pictorial documentation.

You should be very pleased. The 2 people on ClubProtege who have done this have nothing but good things to say about it.

SgtRauksauff, where did you get the diff and what did it cost? If I have to pull my tranny out again I might as well do the swap.

I got it from Corksport actually. I got the Diff, the driver side hybrid axle, and the intermediate shaft. I don't remember the exact prices, I'll go dig through my pile of paperwork and let you know.

    sarge,
    No 626 5th gear swap?
I know this isn't as important for the type of racing you do, but it's got to help with the drive to the track!
Thanks for all of the help you provide to the community.
I think I'm going to have to get an external hard drive for all of the escort files and pics I'd like to save.
    Bill.

I'm not sure what the deal is, the damn thing is just shifting funny and won't go into overdrive. I did find a unconnected ground wire that is for the tranny ECU this last time we drop the tranny back in. Hope that helps. Going to take it for a test drive this weekend and see if it works this time.

    Lol!

Those are just the disassembly pictures so far. When I finish reassembly (Just haven't had time in the last few weeks) I'll be putting in the 5th gear swap. It'll definitely help for those 6+ hr road trips to tracks!

What ratio is the 626 5th gear swap? Would that swap work on the 1.9l trans?

Ratio can be found with the search button.
From what I remember it is only in the 1.8 5spd.

crap, i remember talking to u about this.

what axles are you using again? I read u can simply use MX3 V6 axles but i don't see how you could use their intermediate shaft since its for the K-series.

Corksport has Raxles (raxles.com) do a hybrid axle, with the escort outer and the MSP inner CV. They have a custom-machined intermediate shaft as well, which I still need to find a new bearing for (should be cake, juts have to start calling bearing places. Like the one across the street from where I work.), and then the passenger axle can be the stock one from the EGT.

What I'm hoping is, the passenger side axle becomes the weakest link in the system. it's the easiest to change (no tranny fluid lost, takes less than 10 minutes) and is kinda the cheapest too.

I'll take some measurements and spline-counts on the axles and diff, just because if it's the same as the group buy through kaaz for the ZX2 diff, that's another alternative to use, plus the adjustability of the preload can be good.

    ok then!!

Tonight was the maiden voyage of the wagon as equipped with an MSP LSD!! w00t!!

    From Corksport, I got:
    MSP LSD
    Raxles custom hybrid Driver-Side Axle
    Custom Machined intermediate shaft.

Now, the intermediate shaft has a 28-spline end on it for the passenger side axle to connect with. An axle from 1992 MX3 GS (1.8L V6) with Manual Transmission, with NO ABS has the 28-spline inner side, and the 26-spline hub side (just like in the EGT/LX). And, the length is just fine, too.

IN, and working. gonna take a couple days to break things in (freshly rebuilt tranny, with the 626 5th gear also) and then see how it handles under pressure.

    :)
