OK another q....
1992 Escort LX 5-speed. 137k miles on it. Just had the transmission done. The reverse gear was clicking (broken tooth) and the forward gears seemed to whine (inner bearings).
My question is this. Upon acceleration, the tranny shifts fine and everything engages, but I notice a thump when it goes into gear. This had been doing it before the tranny was done. No noise, just feels like the entire car is shifting. This occurs only really at hard acceleration and not at all when driving low speeds. I'm guessing it is the motor mounts, as it seems like the motor is twisting or popping into place when the car is driven hard. Am I in the right ballpark? Has anyone else ever changed them? How difficult of a task is it, or should I bring it to someone?
Thanks again....

Jack up your car and see if your motor mouts are broken. Check the black rubber part of the mount. if you can see a crack or you might have to move it to see if it broken or not.

I think its up to you if you can do it or not.
