hmm why? i woul djuts buy a gt or swap to a gtx motor.. a gt swap is really pointless. and yea i believ you woul dhave to swap motor mounts, as well as trannys, ecu, everything! too much work.. if its a lx, why not do a spi.. then maybe turbo it...

well it wouldnt be pointless if he had a local upull it like near me i could get motors with any mileage on it for about $198 they even pull the motor for you and mark it in there books so if it dont work you can bring it back for a replacement

misinformation abounds...

Regarding the 2nd gen Escorts (1991-1996):

All four motor mounts themselves are the same. The two lower motor mount BRACKETS that bolt to the tranny from the crossmember are different between the different variations of tranny. (1.8, 1.9, auto, manual, each is different)

The crossmember is the same. The (manual) shift linkage is ALMOST the same (1/4" difference where the bushing end is welded to the shaft), it can be used, you just have to put the lower rear motormount bolt in the opposite way.

to swap a 1.8L engine into an LX, you need the engine, tranny, axles, halfshaft, lower motormount brackets, engine wiring harness and ECU, and the coil and igniter and stuff like that. You'll have to do some splicing to get your guages to work properly. you'll also want the brake booster vacuum extender pipe from a GT that runs along the firewall. Maybe the fan and shround from a GT, as it's angled where the LX one is straight. The A/C compressor and Power steering pump are different between the two. The PS pump is easy to change, just need part of the lines from the GT. I left my A/C off, but the same applies there.

It's a little work, but nothing that you can't accomplish in a weekend or two depending on how many buddies you have helping you, and how much you are familiar with working on cars.
