Hey everyone. So im going to get straight to the point. We race up here in vermont. Anyways we are going to run the newer style for escort the 2001 ford escort zx2 but we dont want to run the dohc head because of the weight factors and etc but this season we might be able to run 2.0 motors and anyways i am wondering what a good combo would be to make some awsome power and not get caught in tech like running the 2.0 bottom block and running a 1.9 head or something like that. That was just a guess but like do any of you guys know a good combo to be able to make some good power and what tranny to run at our track with our track size and tire size to be able to be mad fast. I wanna know anything i can do and wont be able to get caught in teach as our rules same stock for make model and year and as far as motor work we are able to bore the bottom block 30 over and shave the head .10 thats it as far as motor work so i need to find a good combo.

I've been running a 2nd gen LX, swapped in a 2.0 SOHC from a 97 SE.
98 ZX2 trans, (4.10 gears in 98-99 ) Officials knew 2nd Gen only came with 1.9L = put 1.9l valve cover on 2.0L.
So you want to swap a 2.0 SOHC into a ZX2? It's been done the other way around.
My stock EGT runs circles around my LX even with this setup.

i have 2 egt that have 2.0 blocks and 1.9 heads and they are very very fast. I would definetly do it if you know how to. I run 3rd gear with 175/50/13 tires, which are very small and i race on a 1/4 and a 3/8 mile and its fast on both. Run the high side and keep momentum up, but i also have a very good setup to get the car to turn, but i would definetly recommend a 2.0 block with a 1.9 head

well lets start here. Its a 1/4 mile asphault track. Its 22 degree banking. and they are track tires. we used to run the Falken Ziex ZE-912 tires and the size were 195/60/r14s which were flat acrross and then they switched us to these new track tires which were goodyear racing tires and the size were the same size as the falkens but they were taller cause they wernt flat so yeah. Hope this helps.
