What is the most power that people have gotten out of there 1.9 and 2.0 CVH motors. Looking oversees and you see 300hp is normal out of 1.6. Has people hit that mark yet. I figure it is possible seeing that we have larger displacement and all.

That is a good number but is that the most so far. On average I have seen 150-190 range for a lot of the CVH motors. So I figure if I wanted high horsepower than I want to go with the BP or the Zetec motor. I lean more toward setec for a few reasons. Larger displacement, huge aftermarket support, and can be used with the edis setup with megasquirt without real modifications. Thats just me.

foundnemo25 made 371HP and 422 lb-ft with his bored out 2.2 SPI turbo. That's the highest number I have seen for a CVH but then again I haven't seen everything.

You see a lot of people running 370-450 hp with the zetec tranny without too much of a problem. I know with just about any car the tranny is the limiting factor. In this case I am trying to see which route I would benefit more with. The CVH motors does have more tourque than the zetec and BP but the DOHC heads flow far better than the cvh heads. There are more off the shelf parts for the DOHC motors but everything is custom for the CVH. Yes I like to be different but a little off-the-shelf stuff wouldnt hurt.

Thats in the Focus. The Focus has a different tranny than the Escort. In the Escort, the Zetec has the G-series trans that white-lightning was talking about and swapping a Focus trans in is more trouble than its worth.

Everything like the internal block parts are hard to find. The only ones that you can find is over see's for the 1.6 and the american block is bigger than that. Now I have managed to find quite a few zetec rods and pistons. Is it possible for you to put the zetec crank, rods, and pistons (Flat tops not 4 valve releif) in the SPI block. If it is then its game on then.

yea but what you fail to realize is that you can have pistons and rods made at your local race machine shop for about if not cheaper than the ztec rods so its not all that diffrent but if you just want to bolt stuff on thats fine but a little bit of custom work never hurt anyone either

I've heard of breaking 400 hp in a CVH, but have not seen it yet. I imagine it's entirely possible with a full on race setup, but it would be hard to street. I think 300 hp is quite streetable, and reliable, in that engine. Besides, 300 hp is quite a lot in a little car...more than enough to embarrass most other cars on the road.

Why are you so worried about the internals? I used to think that these engines were worthless. Until i took the time to READ through the site, and read up as much as i can. I'm still learning, so I won't claim to be an expert. But the SPI is clearly capable of 200+hp with proper tuning. Sure, you could go with a N/A build, but I believe that with bolt on applications, you're only looking at <150hp, then you could start shelling out money on custom made stuff, which is great if you have money, but i sure don't. I believe someone else on the forums is building a 1g CVH, and yes, they are willing to put the money into it, and I'm really excited to see that build.

But, if you're going to go with a DOHC, my personal choice would be the BP. I've seen BP variants with a 0-60 of ~2.6. Most zetec parts are actually for the focus.

Or you could build a KLZE. 200hp from the start, with room to grow.

The point is, there are many options for these cars, you just have to look, and want to look. I remember my first post, i made a total fool of myself because I knew nothing about cars, and didn't read up on my options.

Don't forget the Zetec engine, as I have heard of race prepped ones making 500+ hp. I'd say that's going to give any other Escort engine a serious run, save for the BDA and YB engines in the Cosworths.
