I´ve got a friend that was telling most people screw up moding their car because they use generic mods that don´t give you as much performace as mods that are designed specifically for your car...is this true...partly true?

I´d say 90% B.S. The theory to gaining engine performance is to cram more air/fuel into each cylinder before igniting it. That holds true for ANY engine. So in essence your trying to do that with any mod... now strapping a super charger from a 460 V8 wouldn´t exactly be the best mod for a Escort GT motor (or Lx or whatever you have). Just use common sense ask around the group about spacific mods and they will tell you how it worked out for them.

I´ve found that mods for other cars have helped me the most.
My exhaust is custom, but the muffler is for an Integra, my wheels aren´t advertised for fitting the Escort, but for a Civic...same thing, same offset. Same thing, you look at the Sport Compact Ignition from MSD, they dont advertise it for the Escort, but it does work quite well.
