Yes, ass, i know that JDM means Japanese Domestic Market. I also know that importing a car from overseas is expensive. What I didn't know was that Starion was sold here, and was the Mitsubushi name for the Conquest.

*had never seen/heard of starions being sold in US either*

Actually, I thought that those things were Dodge Daytonas.. so I never really paid any attention to them.

Dodge Daytona:

Mitsu Starion:

Dodge Conquest:

I kinda like the look of the Starion.. too bad they're a mitsu/chrysler venture :pukeleft:

We don't think you're lying. The Starion/Conquest were great cars in their time. In fact, you can use the Starion intercooler for the Escort turbo buildup. There's also a profile on the Starion/Conquest twins in SCC magazine a while back. It was in a way, a bridge between classic muscle car and sport compact car. Turbocharged 4 cylinder, rear wheel drive, big arches, and huge rear tires. I'd like to have one, wouldn't we all, but the economics of owning one make it not very practical plus they're hard to find. I always thought they resembled the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica.

The eclipse is a FWD car with a transverse drivetrain (and the AWD versions are based off of the same FWD archetecture).

The starion is a RWD car with a longitudinal drivetrain.

The turbo engine may very well be of the same type in both cars, but saying one is based on another is like saying the Miata was the first Protege... or that the Escort Mach 1 ever had anything to do with our scorts... or that the current Chevy Malibu is a true predacessor of the original.

I don't believe it's fact.., and I don't believe it was just your opinion, I just think you were told incorrectly because of someone's missinformation down the line.

entirely different engines.. they do not have a single part that you can interchange between the two cars
entirely different transmissions
entirely different drivetrain.
entirey different all together.

it's like saying that the mustang was the first escort.

or the camaro was the first cavalier.

again i say, apples and oranges
