Hi all, my '99 Escort SE has the annoying quirk of setting off the panic alarm 9 times out of 10 if you use the key to physically unlock the door. Unfortunately, the remote unlock (which used to work) has gone missing and i'm tired of wincing in anticipation of the horn whenever I open the door.

the factory alarm should not go off if you just lock it manually then unlock it with the key. if you use the keyless entry fob to lock it, it will have to be unlocked with the keyless entry fob.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, my problem occurs if it is locked from the inside lock button on the door. Should it do this?

My '98 Escort did that as well. Stopped as of a year ago, but if I locked my car with the key-less remote (every time), or electronically locked it from the inside (maybe once a year) and pulled the handle from the inside, it would go off. Not so much if I hit the electric lock?

Also, with a dented hood, when air passed through the alarm would randomly blare for three minutes and disable.

Escorts take their security very seriously.
