Hey this is my second post here first after my intro post but anyways. Im rhinking of undertaking a massive project and wanted to get some advice from well all yall. Here goes lol, to make a long story short I'm looking at a 2001 Subaru Outback here locally that my local shop had got after doing work the car starts right up not a lot wrong with it at all and at a extremely low price its would be hard to pass up. It has the 3.0 in it and of course is AWD. My question is has anyone here or does anyone know of anybody taking a Subaru floorpan and mounting a escort body pretty much to it? I know the wheel base is a bit longwe on the outback at 105" but taking a few inches out to bring it to 98" in the right jig wouldn't be that hard. Would it be easier to use the subaru drivetrain and build a tubular chassis for the escort body or kinda fit it as i go and make notes of how to? Surely i cant bw the first to under take this any asvice on what the pros to cons would be appreciated before I have 2 piles of scrap in my back yard lol. Also, my escort is a 92 lx 3dr hatch and is manual. Is therw a way to turn what i believe to be the front wheel version of a t5 trans and hook it up to the boxer engine via a custom fabbed bellhousing adapter and keep the AWD Subaru drivetrain?

Sounds like something that Garage 54 would do.
