i was reading the post about "ways to mod ur EGT for cheap" and it said that putting in a lower temp thermostat would make the engine cool down faster, so it stay good longer. anybody know the pro's and con's, as well as where it is located and what all is involved?

PROS - If your engine is HEAVILY modified, the thermostat will open sooner allowing better cooling.

CONS - If your engine is NOT heavily modified, the stock ECU will never think the car is up to operating temperature, and you'll stay in a 'warm-up loop' indefinately. Your idle will be dicked up, your engine will never reach operating temperature, and your ECU will hate you. Mine hated me. :)

    Your stock thermostat is fine.

i agree, stock t-stat is fine. if the rest of the cooling system works, you will never have any over-heating issues with the stock 195/197 degree t-stat.

Awhile back my 3rdgen had a problem with the cooling system... such as it wasnt workin  Everyone thought I would start overheating as we let it sit in my driveway and drove it around for a bit waiting to see temp go past 1/2 mark. Never did. Stock is fine
