Hi All, This is a great site and this is my first post. I have a 1999 Escort ZX2 with the double over head cam. I am have some starting issues and I think I need to find out what if any fuel pressure that my car has. Looking for any and all ideas for a fabricated or store boughten pressure guage. This car is a 1999 and I am not seeing any schradder valve. Thanks in advance.

your car must be a late 99, they didn't have the schrader valve.

what starting issue are you having? no start, hard to start, etc?

The car doesn't want to start until I cycle the key on and off for 3 times. I only have to cycle it when it sits for an hour or longer. Shorter times it will start. The fuel must be draining back in the tank. Is there a check valve in the fuel pump? Or would the fuel regulator be bad? Other than the one issue it is a great running car.

so there are no issues once the car is running? it almost sounds like the filter is clogged.

Okay Guys, I will change it and post back the findings I have with the new fuel filter. I purchased this car used and don't know the history of it. So a new filter will go on it this weekend. Thanks and I will get back to you soon. Thanks all.

Okay, I changed the fuel filter and still no change. I am continuing to cycle the key three times before starting it. Also, once it starts it runs good for about 5 seconds then it starts to stumble and run rough for just about 7 seconds. Then it will snap out of it and run good. Any ideas?

there is a fuel pump driver module located in the trunk on the drivers side above the wheel well. could be it is bad, or disconnected, or has a wiring issue.

no check engine light?

I would suspect a bad fuel pump.
