This my friends, can be a challenge: buying wheels that actually A) Go with your 'Scort that lacks a body kit, B) Actually look quite nice and don't cost an arm and a leg.
I have a blue (don't know name of 1991 LX blue color Ford used) LX that is waxed regularly. This means my car shines, and my wheels don't. I am 8O lookin' 8O for some wheels... I haven't come to a final decision on color, but I was leaning towards a black.

A friend suggested ICW, they make a 6 pointed dark black wheel... almost a matt black.

What I am askin' is, 'where can I find a cheap wheel, that doesn't look cheap and looks nice with a Blue LX :?: ' :? What about wheel//tire combos?

I am 110% open to suggestions, in fact I really want some.

Food for thought: I really don't think I want white wheels, and I am certain that high polished//chrome wheels are a no go.

Thanks for any suggestions!! :D

Personally I couldn't make any suggestions until I see what the car looks like. I have a good idea, but I still kinda need ot see it. Personally, I would og with 5-spoke rims, like the TenzoR Apex5's or the many replicas thereof. (actually I think Volk made the original and the Tenzo's were just the first copy to be made) other than that I would say just start looking at places like Tirerack.com or any of the millions of wheel shops in any given Import mag.

But I think that a darker rim Like Gunmetal (my personal fav and hopeful purchase color) or black would look good, but again I would need to see the actual blue to make a better reccomendation. Just be sure not to get Matte Black wheels, If your car shines as much as you say then having flat colored wheels will just make them look like the stock ones just a different color. I would go with a metallic (hence why I like Gunmetal).

Rule Number One - Don't follow the crowd.

Gunmetal and Bronze have been so played out in the past few months, it kinda hurts to even think about it. Black has been played out as 'the jdm color' since the beginning of time... and you can never go wrong with silver so..

Silver Rota Circuit 8's.

on an integra (in the usual played out 'sport bronze')

I swear to god if you get Slipstreams, I'll come to 'the rock' and slap you silly.

At this point I would like to officcially name Tito "The Crowd" so take his advice and don't follow what "The Crowd" tells you... (no hard feelings Tito :D )

Although the gunmetal is used a lot its because it usually looks good. But again I would need to see a pic to make any real suggestions. Silver is ALWAYS a good choice, but it also kinda makes aftermarket wheels blend in with stock equipment unless they have an interesting design that really catches the eye. I love the slipstreams as much as the next guy, but if EVERY SINGLE Escort has slipstreams then it kinda does the same as leaving the stock wheels on, just in a much more lightweight way!

I think that Rotas are going to be a good route, but as for the model, It's totally up to you, but just remember, if you want wheels that are going to get oyu noticed wouldn't it be wise ot go with what popular opinion says looks hot?

Rota 8s. like 12 lb 15 inch rims...lighter than your 14 inch LX rims/steelies. you can get beefier tires for it and have better grip with a lightweight wheel package and look damn good doing it.

well if you had the money i'd definately go for racing harts. They have some great light weight rims and they look good too.

Pretty much you get what you pay for. Cheap rims usually arent made the best way w/ a cheap chrome that peels off of them and stuff like that.

Like i have these Alba rims and they cost me about 250 a rim and they looked good when i got them. But curb scratching messed them up. But one thing i found w/ these rims is i had a caliper die on me and it leaked out brake fluid which ate the coating away on the inside of the rim. Its not noticable until the rim is off the car, but i know its there and thats what dissapoints me.

I know of 3 escorts including my own w/ Slipstreams. Mine is the only one I've ever seen in person w/ them. I've seen them on Hondas & Celicas at autocrosses... but that's about it.

BTW.. Rota uses powdercoatings instead of paint... very easy to get brake dust off of, and very durable.

Powdercoating is wicked tough stuff. It's basically a baked-on enamel. They use it on machine guns and stuff.
DAYUM.... even the ROTA's that are on special with tires mounted and balanced as advertised on zxtuner.com?? do you think they would look good on my car, or should i look for something else that is lightweight, and go more for looks? or should i be a hardcore racer and not give a **** about what they look like, as long as they're light and move like hell?
