2day i was driving home w/ my lights on and everytime i hit a little bump the headlights would flicker on and off. It did this both on high and low beams. so i pulled off in a parking lot and checked the fuses. everything is all ok there. i was thinking it would be a bad battery connection (to lazy to look, will look at it 2morrow) and the dash lights and all of them were not flashing. any other sugguestions on what it could be? thnx guys

well, it´s probably not the battery, because more than the headlights run off of that. It´s probably not the bulbs, because it´s way too coincidental for both bulbs to be flickering at the same time. Thus, it´s something somewhere in the part that feeds power to both headlights. sorry I don´t know the answer, but I´m just trying to narrow things down for the following postees.

either that or their ground wire is loose and every time you hit a bump you loose the connection. This is also possible, assuming they´re both grounded at the same point. You may want to look at a ford escort EVTM manual.

thnx... though i was thinking it still could be the battery because the radio and dash lights dont use that much power... thus can be run off the alternator. thnx neways... im going to pull out my chiltons 2morrow and check over all the wiring.

if ti were your battery it wouldn´t do that the alternator can suport all that unless you are running some serious wattage withsomthing in your car. More or less you got a loose wire. I would say it sounds like where it comes out of the fuse box since both of them do it.

Could be the headlight relay, sometimes when they go bad they will rapidly click on and off, thus making the head lamps go on and off, and since there is a seperate relay for both the parking lamps and the head lamps that could kind of explain why only the headlights flash on and off but the parking/running (Dash) lights stayed on.
