Should I try to wipe the dirt off first? Get someone else to try to pull it?

uh... ya, you should get the dirt off first... the dirt will cause the connector to not release.

I know, dumb question. Maybe I'll stop off at the buck store on the way home and get some q-tips.

Got some of it off with a paper towel. May just stop off at Walmart and get some electrical-friendly compressed air in a can and blast the connector.

It took me quite a while to realize you turn them a quarter turn to release.

    The connector or the ring?

The ring. You can wrestle with the connector and injure your hands, or merely twist the ring to take the lamp out of the headlight housing, still attached to the wiring.

Yeah, I'll give that a try later. The ring wasn't moving much earlier. I'll try it again.
