I have been reading about the KL-ZE/KL-03 mazda v-6 2.5L swap and I want to know what you guys think about the swap? I was first thinking about swaping a 1.8 EGT engine into my wagon but everything that is needed of that swap is needed for the mazda v-6 swaps. Well just wondering what you think, and I don´t want to swap the 2.0L SPI ( I´ve looked into that one)

Thanks

personally I´d go for the v-6 swap in if you want some good torque and base hp...plus imagine the sleeper status on a wagon with a v-6...the KL-ZE comes with about 200 stock and there are performance parts for that engine also

Here is my take on it. If your cool with the 200ish HP and great torque I´d do the v6 swap. If you think you will want more than that go with the BP. the KL-ZE are not to easy to mod from what I´ve heard. At least not as easily as the BP. Anything can be done with the proper amount of money hehe

P.S. would the wagon be the same but a little heaver? In fact one could argue the added wait in the back could make it handle better.

The KLZE is a j-spec. engine out of Japanese 626 / MX-6 and the KL03 is out of the 93+ Probe GT / 93-97 626 / 93+MX-6. I am going to buy a KL03 and order a set of heads/intake manifold/ and intake.

The transmission that most people yse is the trany off of a 1.8L V-6 MX-3, you also have to use the hubs, axles, and cross member of the same car.

I am not 100% sure that trany off the mx-3 will fit, I have to wait to talk to a guy that has done this swap, I will get back to you with the into.

A guy did this swap into a Mazda 323 ( 90 - 94 ) witch is also good for the escort if you didn´t already know that.

Stuff you get ( all MX-6 / MX-3 items )

Engine itself
Transmission
Drive Shaft
Computer & Harness
Engine Mounts
Sub Frame

the tranny could also come out of an mx-6.... yes the kl-ze is very hard to work on... but in the words of dave coleman... it can handle at least a bar of boost with proper tuning... thats not too shabby considering there is a guy with a turbo kl-ze with just under 300 horsepower and only running 8psi. After 8psi you need to worry about preignition... search on the mx-3 board, there is some crazy amounts of info about the kl-ze, maybe thry the mx-6 board too. There are lots of Probe GT Turbos around too so probtalk.com would also be a gold mine of info.
