trying to steel a car? You better off steeling something else, escorts are worthless.
Joking aside, I can't help you here, but I'm sure someone else here might be able too.

If you got the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, it has all of the wiring diagrams in it, along with drawings of where components are located, and the pin-outs for most connectors. I got mine from ebay, where they usually are not expensive. A long look at that would show you what needed to be connected for the car to be as a running car should be. Basically there are three circuits to the ignition functions. One is for the accessories, another is the ignition itself (i.e. spark plugs firing and fuel pump on), the third is the one that makes the starter turn. But each of these has other functions that are controlled, i.e. the PCM (computer on), the control module for charging the airbag, for the sliding shoulder safety belts, for the chime module, for the a.c. and heater blower, etc.
You would need to get the EVTM for the year that your car is, as the circuitry changes from year to year. And like 93scortluv says, the 91-96 are slightly different in circuitry. I have never had nor worked on a 3rd gen Escort like a 97 or later.
