I scanned my engine codes, and the only thing to come up was "Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Test Failed". What in the hell does that mean?

Well the KAM is what the computer uses to store the trouble codes and other data in the ECU. It does this by having a constant 12v suply running to it even when the car is off. If it is failing more than likely there is a loose connection or blown fuse in the KAM's power circuit. Make sure your battery cables are not corroded, and all the wires going to the ECU are in good condition. Also maybe the ECU is on the fritz, and may need to be replaced.

Okay, that's what I figured. If I need to buy a new computer, where would be the best place to get one?

best or cheapest? I would figure both would mean hopping through a junkyard for a 91 LX for an ECU. Hopefully you could find one in pristine shape.

try this guy...

Kenny Prater
(501) 988-5115

he's near here and wrecks out escorts...almost exclusivley..

I've gotten some good deals from him...he does most of his business locally, but may be willing to ship one to you or if he quotes you a pricce I could pick it up and send it to you after you send the money...he's very good and very conscientious about the parts he sells...hope this helps....oh and before I forget...he's very reasonable on the prices usually
