Well it turns out my escort has been getting alittle bumpy and its not as comfortable as it used to be... :( it shakes when I stop too... I heard I have to change my Tie Rods but what else can I do to ensure the comfort of my old escort stays in good shape? Its an 89 LX (if you didnt catch the nickname).
If im not mistaking this car has struts but maybe someone can give me a clear understanding and good idea of what can be done. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Thanks,

If it's shaking while stopping it can be several things:

1. Warped front rotors, or rear drums.
2. LCA ball joint worn or not tight in the knuckle.
3. Swaybar not torqued completely in the LCA.
4. Swaybar bushings worn in LCA or bracket mounts.
5. Struts or strut hardware is worn.

I'd check the bushings and retorque everything in the front suspension first, as I've had things loosen up a little on me before (LCA pinch bolt mainly). Bounce the car to test the struts..chances are they're bad if original. Tie rods could be the cause, but might not be. The same could be said for wheel bearings. I'm just noting what wears out fastest, which is the LCA.
