Aite..boys girls and gurus. I got broken into tonight and nothing too much was taken..just some change in my glove box, everything was thrown around in my car in a skid-row-bum-gonna-break-in hurry. My question is....since there's no lock on ANY of the escort glove box(es).......is there any car, that you can basically pull it out, and swap it in? Does anybody else have *custom* locks on their glove box? i'm sure somebody has to..especially with the PS2's and 6 disc changer ppl hook up in their boxes...HELP ME PLEASE!! i wanna store minor valubles in my car (ie parking change!)

I doubt that there is anything that you can do that is going to make the plastic strong enough to withstand anyone who really wants to break into it. If there is a way you can do it that looks almost the same and makes it very difficult to get in is also questionable. If you make it look like it has something valuable in it, I would think you would only be inviting more problems.

What might be more interesting is if you could remove the passenger side air bag and use that cavity as a glove box without anyone knowing it except you.

And exactly how much change do you store for parking? Hardly worth protecting, I would think.

My 1st gen has a factory locking glove box, and I think all 1st gens have them too, but im not sure. There is a slot in the middle of the turning knob where you stick the key. I allways lock my face plate in there when im at the mall or in the city.

Uhhh... zzyzzx.... That's a HUGE ticket if you take out your airbags and put shit in there. The only way I can see getting away with it is if you have a 93 or earlier, and you never had airbags, get a 94 dash and put it in. That's a lot of work for a glovebox... :dontknow:

You do mean 95 dash, 94s only had driver side airbags, 95-96 had both.

If someone is gonna use a tool or break a window to get in a car with the doors locked, I doubt a lock on the glovebox is gonna be of any help, but it might not bea bad idea in some instances when you leave the windows down for a quick run in the store...You know some people will reach right in your car if they see a wallet or a couple bucks laying in there.
Ive had my car broken into twice and stolen once...all times I had alarms and the car was locked. Punk kids around here usually just go after stereo equipment. Losers. Good luck to ya though.
