i took the part of the bushing with the longer side and pointed it towards the inside of the washer, there is also another washer and bushing under the a-arm

It looks correct in that pic, just unsure how you are describing the orientation of the bushings.
Here's my setup. Very filthy, I know, it's a daily driver.

If by the longer side you mean the smaller diameter, raised area facing towards the washer, then no. The raised part is used to center the bushing in the hole in the sway bar.
